What is one thing you are not doing that you know would help you?
I can name a few things but what comes to mind is going to bed at a decent time. I know I need about 8 hours of sleep a night to feel refreshed. At the end of the day, I feel like a child, wanting to make the most of every minute before I fall asleep, often reading or watching something. I know why I do it. It’s my way to wind down from the day.
There’s a real tug of war going on – on the one hand, my rational side knows that I should switch everything off and go to bed at 11pm. On the other hand, my emotional side is saying “Just to the end of this episode” or “Just to the end of the chapter”.
I know my future self suffers. It’s her that gets groggy and irritable. It’s her that snacks more because she’s tired. It’s her that needs to take an afternoon nap because she can’t keep her eyes open. But that’s not her at 11pm at night. That’s the party animal (as party animal as she can be these days 😉 ).
I’m making a pact with my future self to go to bed at 11pm on weeknights and allow myself some more slack at the weekends.
