I was first introduced to a Silent Disco at a TedxZurich event a few years back. First, you get given a set of cordless headphones. Then there’s a few different channels to choose from that you can flick between. You set the channel to the DJ and music you like and off you go, you can start dancing. There’s a different light at the side of the headphones showing which channel you are on.
It’s a lot of fun and it combines a bunch of innovative solutions. It’s quiet to the outside so no noise pollution. Everyone gets to pick the music they like. And you get some dancing in. It looks a bit funny from the outside as someone’s just dancing away with headphones but to be honest, no one is watching. It is fun to see at night with different headset lights showing.
I love out-of-the-box solutions. I find it gives me ideas and positive energy and certainly helps me to think in a different way.
So where was this Silent Disco? The one I went to was at Kaserne, Zurich organized by Tanzgarage (1) and there are going to be there most Saturdays and more days in the summer. If you decide to try it out, enjoy!!!
