A sounding board is someone or a group you go to where you test out an idea before you go public with it. I often speak with my accountability buddies or mastermind groups about the things I am working on to sound them out.
I’m one of these people that finds when I speak about what I am working on, solutions come to me as I am speaking it out loud. Sometimes the other person doesn’t need to say anything and all they need to do is just be there.
Lately, I’ve been collaborating a lot with Edson Williams and I noticed that I am much faster at producing. I believe it’s because decisions are being made quicker thanks to us being sounding boards for one another. It works especially well because we play on each other’s strengths and build upon them. We have different expertise to draw upon as necessary.
Think of it as having a board of directors that you can present to, people who have your best interests at heart. So who’s your sounding board? Is it your partner, friends, colleagues, accountability buddy, mastermind group, WhatsApp group, Facebook group, social club, or something else?
If you don’t have a sounding board for the projects you would like to further, I highly recommend you find one. You’ll be surprised at how much further and quicker you come.
Sound it out!
