Do you find yourself saying “I don’t have time”? I certainly have. We all have the same hours in the day, so how do some people manage to get forward with the work they want to do and others don’t?
Instead of saying “I don’t have enough time”, it would be better to say “I do not prioritize this” or “I have taken on more than I have capacity for”. This way, you decide and schedule how you want to use the 24 hours of the day. Time isn’t something you don’t have anymore, it’s how you have chosen to spend your time.
My husband often reminds me that a “yes is a no and a no is a yes”. It means that when you say yes to something, it means you are saying no to something else and vice versa. Let’s say you say yes to a networking event, that means no to family time. If you say no to the networking event, you are saying yes to family time.
Have a think about what is important to you, even writing out a priority list. Rather than say yes to anything that comes in straight away, first go through your list and then decide if you are going to make it a priority or not.
You are the one choosing how to spend your time and remember a
“Yes is a No and a No is a Yes”.
Hi Selina,
I really find this post very helpful to remind ourselves, that it’s not a matter of “I don’t have time” as we all have the same amount of hours and minutes every day. It’s a matter of making choices, and we all do them. The difference is some people do them more consciously and others subconsciously.
