“Note to self: Fix loose cupboard door”

Do you have things around the house that need repairing? Maybe you have some clothes that need adjusting, some cups that are chipped, a light bulb that isn’t working, or taps that need decalcifying?

What does this have to do with overcoming procrastination or growing your business? Every time you pass these things, a thought pops in your head that you need to get something repaired or something needs to be replaced. It may sound small but it’s something that your mind takes on board, an extra item on the task list that consumes your mental capacity. Mental capacity that could be better used in your business.

Not only are these things cluttering up your mind, it is also an acceptance of things that aren’t quite as they should be – and accepting this in your private life influences how you approach your professional life.

It’s like when you wake up in the middle of the night and you can’t sleep because you are thinking of all the things you need to do. When this happens, a good idea is to write it all down to offload the items from your mind.

The same applies to things that need to get fixed around the house. Write them down and dedicate some time every day or week to tackle them. You’ll be surprised at how much better and lighter you feel. Happy fixing!
